RS: A lot of your songs have to do with the themes of love, loneliness, loss and anticipation. I understand that you've had a long ride on an emotional rollercoaster in the past couple of years but why did you decide to express your emotions and feelings through the electronica/ambient/trance/dance genre rather than, let's say, R&B for example?
ATB: I believe my outlet is dance and ambient music. There is some great R&B music out there, but at this moment I don't feel that I should be producing this. But you never know, maybe one day as I am very interested in all sorts of music.
RS: Do you prefer touring as a live act or a DJ? How do you prepare for the different sets?
ATB: I only DJ and there isn't a live act. I pack my record case for each and every gig amd every country and club is a bit different
RS: How do you choose your records for your DJ sets? How many of your own records do you play?
ATB: I get booked because of my name and the music I produce, so I play some of my tracks as well as the great music from other producers. This is the advantage of being a DJ, you can play other people's art as well.
RS: Is there anywhere you want to perform that you haven't yet?
ATB: I love to travel and play around the globe but I try not to travel as much now because I want to stay near my studio and home - I love my home sweet home. The people's interest in my music and DJ sets make me feel really proud.
RS: Congratulations on winning your DJ Meeting awards. I know that you picked up 2 awards in the categories of "Best National Producer" and "Best National DJ," but who is responsible for the "Best National DJ Website" award?
ATB: A jury of people inside the web and the music business decide on the "Best National DJ Website" award. This year my friend Woody won the award for his site woodyvaneyden.com
